Marilyn Ann Fry
Marilyn Ann Fry

Marilyn Ann Fry, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully left her Earthly form on December 16, 2024, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by love and Christmas hymns.

Marilyn was born in Jackson, Michigan on February 21, 1933, to parents Harold and Eva Jacquith, one of four children, and the only daughter. Marilyn attended Michigan State University where she studied music. That love of music carried on throughout her entire life, including teaching music, particularly piano, for many years. After college, Marilyn married the love of her life, Maurice “Morrie” Fry. They married on March 12, 1954, and spent 61 beautiful years together before losing Morrie in 2016. Marilyn and Morrie had 4 loving children together and they adored them with their whole hearts. In addition to music, Marilyn loved art in all its forms. The term “crafting” doesn’t do her art justice.

She loved sewing, painting, quilting, and stained-glass work. The art form that will stand out to most was her beautiful calligraphy handwriting. Along with art, Marilyn loved gardening, watching football (particularly Michigan State vs. the University of Michigan), puzzles, collecting Swarovski crystals, and spending time with her children, granddaughters, and friends who became family. She kept a daily journal every single day starting in 1973 until the week before her passing. Along with her journals, she kept a pristine collection of photo albums for her family. Marilyn was kind, compassionate, loving, forgiving, and gracious. To put it simply, no words would be enough to describe the person she was and how much she will be missed.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Morrie, daughters, Kathy Fry and Sallee Fry, granddaughter, Lexis Waterman, and her parents and brothers. We are grateful that she will spend Christmas with those she’s loved and lost.

Marilyn is survived by her children and their partners, Randall “Randy” and Nancy Fry, Laurie and Steve Davis, Brian Emch, her granddaughters and their partners, Callie (Garrett) McKelvey, Baylee (Phillip) Shapiro, Logan (Kyle) Mueller, Catherine Davis, Diane (Nicholas) Kiefer, Michelle (Merick) Lewin, 7 great-grandchildren, and many friends who will smile, open their eyes, love, and go on, just like she wanted.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later time.

The family asks that you cheers to her beautiful life, love with all your heart, and continue to share stories of her so that her legacy can live on.
