
Irene N. Hietpas, 99 of Leesburg, FL passed away at her home on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024 with her family by her side.
Irene was born February 9, 1925 in the Town of Vanden Broek, Wisconsin, daughter of the late George G. and Hattie (Verhagen) Weyenberg. Irene married Owen N. Hietpas August 21, 1946 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Little Chute, Wisconsin.
Irene and Owen moved to Florida in 1973. They developed and managed Corley Island Mobile Home Park in Leesburg, Florida with Julia and Jerry Hietpas until they sold it and retired in 1981.
Irene was a volunteer at Leesburg Regional Medical Center for 28 years. In addition, she volunteered at St. Paul’s Thrift Shop which she and Owen co-managed for several years. Irene and Owen enjoyed traveling in their motor home throughout the United States and Canada.
Irene is survived by a son, Ronald Hietpas, Waukesha, WI, a daughter, Charlotte (Gene) Sullivan , Winter Park, FL; grandchildren David (Kristy) Hietpas, Jeremy (Claudine) Hietpas, Katie Sullivan (Anthony) Bellia; great grandchildren Mackenzie, Owen, Benjamin and Irene Hietpas, Abigail and Alex Bellia, a brother-in-law Mark Hietpas, and sister-in-law Shirley Weyenberg. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Owen and her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her son Randy, father and mother-in-law William P. And Margaret Hietpas, daughter-in-law Donna Hietpas, sisters and brothers-in-law Betty (Peter) Schumacher, Mary (Woodrow) Diedrick, Sister Catherine Weyenberg, Julia (Gerald) Hietpas, brothers and sister-in-law Lester (Elaine) Weyenberg, and Clarence Weyenberg; members of Owen’s family, brothers and sisters-in-law Art (Irene) Hietpas, Paul (Ethel) Hietpas, Bill (Yvonne) Hietpas, Dennis, sisters and brothers-in-law Patricia (Henry) Tatro, Bernice (Ted) Larson, Shirley (Bill) Mattern, Betty (Casey) VanderSanden, Margaret, sisters-in-law Ruth Hietpas and Gladys Hietpas.
