Timothy J. Hurst

Timothy Hurst, 63, of Fruitland Park, Florida died at his home on December 11, 2024 with his family at his side.

Timothy was born on February 26, 1961 in Leesburg, Florida to Ray and Delores (Lamb) Hurst. A lifelong Leesburg resident, he was the youngest of four children and a fifth generation town resident. He attended local schools and pursued his career of general contractor after graduation. Timothy was a licensed general contractor for 20 years, constructing many homes in The Villages. He accepted a position with The Villages as their Assistant Director of new construction.

He was gifted with the ability to trouble shoot or solve a variety of mechanical problems and come up with the best solution. From the floor to the roof, he mastered carpentry, plumbing, electrical (not his favorite), flooring and roofing challenges. Timothy loved snorkeling, especially in the clear springs throughout the state, cards, video games, 60’s and 70’s rock and roll, and pool. He was in the local 9-ball league for many years. Timothy LOVED food and would often organize his work or free time to get him near the restaurant or buffet that appealed in the moment. He was a bigger than life personality, a rugged man with a booming voice who enjoyed being center stage and in-charge . But most of all he loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son Alex (Joan) Hurst, daughter Isabella Hurst, grandchildren Noah, Liam and Ellie Hurst, brother Gregory Hurst, and sisters Sheila (Mark) Waldrop and Sheree (Steve) Collins.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel at 1123 West Main St. in Leesburg. A visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg.
