An officer responded to a suspicious vehicle call for service at the Windsong Subdivision, located at the south end of Leesburg, around 2:38 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Upon arrival, the officer observed a light green 2011 GMC SUV with heavy, significant damage to the rear driver’s side of the vehicle parked in front of 5650 Windsong Oak Dr. Javier Aguirre, 47, and a 1993 Ford pick-up truck with heavy damage to the front passenger side were later found in front of 5916 Windsong Oak Dr. He was seen inside the truck on the driver’s side behind the steering wheel with the keys still in the ignition, the report said.

Contact was made with Aguirre who advised that he did not speak English very well. A heavy smell of alcohol came from him as he spoke. While waiting for an officer with the Groveland Police Department to arrive, a large box of Modelo beer was observed on the passenger side floorboard of the truck, the report said.

Once the second officer got to the scene, he assisted with the DUI investigation by translating all instructions and asking all questions in Spanish. Aguirre participated in field sobriety exercises but swayed during them. After being read his rights, he admitted to drinking five alcoholic beverages earlier in the night, the report said.

Aguirre later agreed to provide a breath sample, which yielded results of 0.168 and 0.169, the report said.

The native of Ecuador was arrested on charge of DUI (accident/property damage or minor injury). He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
