A deputy responded to an undisclosed Sorrento residence where they met with a female victim regarding her boyfriend, 33-year-old Robert Curtis Shepard, being suicidal around 2:35 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The report noted the undisclosed address was a neighbor’s residence, and Shepard was at a separate incident location. He was ultimately baker acted, or put on suicide watch, by the deputies.

At about 12:22 p.m., one of the deputies returned to the undisclosed Sorrento residence regarding a possible burglary. Upon arrival, he met with a male victim who stated that he was the owner of the residence and was currently renting it to his daughter, the female victim. He advised that Shepard broke into his daughter’s house and caused damage to the residence along with his Ford F-150, the report said.

Further investigation revealed the female victim had moved Shepard into the residence about two months prior. At that point, the deputy explained to the male victim that his daughter was allowed to move anyone that she wanted into her residence, and it was a civil matter that needed to be addressed with her, the report said.

The female victim’s mother was also present at the scene and stated Shepard pushed her daughter. The deputy met with the female victim who corroborated that statement. She also stated that Shepard punched the F-150’s dashboard and caused it to crack, broke the driver’s side door handle, and broke the driver’s side headlight and headlight trim assembly. The damage was estimated to be worth $2,700, the report said.

The report noted that upon reviewing the female victim’s statement, she neglected to indicate if Shepard had pushed her down after being asked to document it. At the time of the report, it was unclear if she left out the domestic violence because of forgetfulness or because the incident did not happen.

On Monday, a deputy responded to Lifestreams Behavioral Center, located at 2020 Tally Road, as Shepard was in the process of being released. He was approached and taken into custody without incident, the report said.

Shepard was then charged with simple battery (domestic) and criminal mischief. The Tennessee native was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $3,500.
