Officers responded to Waffle House, located at 9520 U.S. Hwy. 441, regarding a well-being check around 1:18 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Upon arrival, contact was made with 25-year-old Matthew Reinhard Brauer as he lay on the concrete ground next to a red motorcycle. He immediately stated he was trying to “sober up.” An officer asked Lake EMS to respond to the restaurant regarding Brauer’s wellbeing, the report said.

Brauer refused medical treatment, and Waffle House initially told officers they did not want to have him trespassed. The report noted that he refused to identify himself, and officers left the area due to him being verbally abusive and aggressive toward law enforcement.

At about 1:36 a.m., officers went back to the restaurant because the complainant advised that Brauer was now causing a disturbance. They wanted him trespassed from the property as a result, the report said.

The officers returned to find Brauer sitting near the same motorcycle seen during the previous call for service. One of the officers spoke with the on-duty manager who confirmed he wanted to have Brauer trespassed, the report said.

Due to Brauer not being willing to provide his name, one of the officers told him he was being trespassed from the restaurant, which he acknowledged. He first walked toward the officer aggressively as he was told this before leaving the area southbound on foot. He again refused to identify himself but was clearly advised he was trespassed from the business and would be arrested if he returned, the report said.

At about 2:26 a.m., an officer told the others that he saw Brauer back on Waffle House’s property. He was detained a minute later. Other officers arrived on scene and placed him in a patrol vehicle. The report noted that he was identified by name and date of birth by his aunt who was at the scene.

Brauer was arrested on charge of trespass after warning. He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
