A Leesburg man was arrested for DUI after flipping a pickup truck on the way home from drinking Twisted Tea at the Dirty South Saloon.

Officers responded to a single vehicle crash on the right side of the roadway in the northbound lane on U.S. Highway 441 around 2:03 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Officers observed a black Dodge pickup truck found upside down with the cab of the truck crushed. The two occupants, one of which was later identified as 33-year-old Bradley Allen Vordemark, had already exited the vehicle and were walking around with no apparent injuries.
An officer conducted a crash investigation, after which he advised Vordemark, the driver, that his investigation was complete. Another officer then arrived on scene to conduct a criminal DUI investigation, the report said.
Vordemark was asked to explain what happened. He stated that while driving away from Dirty South Saloon, located at 1850 U.S. Hwy. 441, his radio was too loud, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and leading to the crash. He also mentioned that when he drinks and drives, he drives “easy,” implying that the crash was not due to impairment, the report said.
While speaking with Vordemark, the officer detected the scent of alcohol coming from his mouth. His eyes were watery, and his speech was slurred. These observations led him to believe Vordemark was impaired, the report said.
Standard field sobriety exercises were performed as a result. Vordemark failed these exercises, leading to his arrest at 2:48 a.m. He was taken to the LPD for further DUI investigation that included a breath test resulting in 0.142 and 0.145 BAC, the report said.
Vordemark was read his rights, and he stated that he only drank three 12-ounce cans of Twisted Tea between 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. He was later transported to UF Health for medical clearance despite denying medical attention at the scene, the report said.
After being medically cleared, Vordemark was taken to Lake County Jail to face a DUI (accident/property damage or minor injury) charge. He was released from jail after posting $2,000 bond.
