Carol Anderson, affectionately known as Sue, who was a beloved mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, passed away on June 19, 2024 at the age of 86. Born on May 24, 1938, in Anna, IL. Sue graduated from East Peoria High School in 1956 & furthered her education at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority & graduated with a BS in Home Economics. During her studies she met the love of her life, Alfred “Al” Anderson & they married in the summer of 1962.
Sue went on to teach school & had their first child, a son, Andrew “Andy” Anderson in 1964. They welcomed their second child, a daughter, Kiersten Susan Anderson, in 1966. Al began working for State Farm Insurance & moved to Winter Haven, FL in 1967. In 1972, Al became a State Farm Agent in 1973 & relocated to Leesburg, FL to establish his agency. Sue was a homemaker for many years & helped Al run his agency for many years.
Sue loved being a mother to her two children, a grandmother to her 4 grandchildren & a great grandmother to her 5 grandchildren. She was a Pink Lady at Leesburg Regional for many years, a member of the Garden Club & a tremendous supporter of Hospice throughout the years. They had season tickets to the University of Florida football games for many years, which they attended with their daughter & son in law, Derek. Her time with her grand & great grandchildren was cherished & gave her great joy with every moment she was able to spend with them.
Carol “Sue” Anderson is survived by her Son Andrew Anderson & daughter, Kiersten (Derek) Freeman. Grandchildren: Patrick (Darion) Anderson, Christopher Anderson, Kiersten Anderson & Hunter Freeman, Great Grandchildren: Everly Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Kimberley Winkle, Valerie Anderson & Rhett Winkle.
Per her wishes, there will only be a graveside service on Friday, June 28, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Tavares Cemetery in Tavares, Florida.
