Bonnie Lou Maloney passed away on June 9, 2024, at the age of 93, in Leesburg, Florida.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1930 in Burlington.
Bonnie Sommerfeld and Rollyce Smith married in 1947. They later divorced.
Bonnie attended Burlington High School and later Young’s Beauty School in Burlington, Iowa. Following her graduation, she shared her knowledge by teaching at Young’s before eventually co-founding her own beauty shop in Mediapolis, Iowa, along side her daughter, Cindy.
She is survived by her daughters, Candyce (Dave) Hook and Cynthia (Bill) Phillips; granddaughters, Kecia (Gray) Steel, Dusty (Joel) Prottsman, and Christine (Mark) Enslin; grandson, Matt (Ruth) Little; eight great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. Bonnie was also cherished by her special friend and dedicated caregiver, Marvin Hicks.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Gill, Fred Sindt and Harold Maloney; two sisters, Harriet and Geraldine; and brother, Melvin Sommerfeld.
