A deputy responded to Rebel gas station, located at 16500 State Road 50, regarding a domestic battery around 10:16 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, he met with the female victim who stated that before coming to the gas station, she was involved in a domestic battery altercation.

The victim explained that 39-year-old Abbas Rahman had been striking and grabbing her for a few days starting on Monday up until her arrival at the gas station. The altercation started with Rahman going through her phone and seeing text messages with their two sons. He then blew up in her face, starting to yell and scream, the report said.

The altercation became physical on Monday. Rahman struck the victim with a closed fist on her body in multiple locations and took her phone after going through the text messages. The physical strikes continued into Tuesday, the report said.

The victim tried to leave their residence multiple times but was unable to. She was physically forced to stay. She went to the door multiple times, and Rahman would grab her and remove her from the door area. He also coerced the victim into staying multiple times, the report said.

On Tuesday, Rahman started another physical altercation. He struck the victim, choked her and dragged her on the carpet. When further questioned about the choking, the victim advised that at no point did she lose the ability to breathe, the report said.

During the interview, the victim showed the injuries she sustained from the physical altercation. She had multiple bruises on both forearms and an abrasion on her right knee from being dragged on the carpet, the report said.

The victim was eventually able to leave the residence by running out the front door. She ran barefoot to the location where the deputy met her. She then advised that no other individuals were at the residence, and Rahman should be home, the report said.

Several deputies arrived at the undisclosed incident location to make contact with Rahman. His vehicle was seen in the driveway when they got there. One of the deputies tried to speak with Rahman at the front door of the residence but did not get an answer even after ringing the doorbell and knocking numerous times, the report said.

The victim advised that if no answer was made at the front door, she gave verbal consent to have deputies enter the residence. After three more attempts to make contact with Rahman by banging on the front door and giving loud commands to exit the residence, Rahman was still not complying. Entry was made into the residence by kicking in the front door as a result, the report said.

As soon as the door was opened, a K-9 unit deputy gave more commands. He eventually got compliance from Rahman who was then detained. He was then placed under arrest and transported to Lake County Jail without further incident, the report said.

Additionally, a criminal history was completed on Rahman which showed prior convictions for battery, the report said.

The native of Guyana was charged with domestic battery (second or subsequent arrest), false imprisonment (domestic) and resisting without violence. Bond was set at $13,500.
