A deputy observed a blue Scion hatchback traveling northbound near Lochmore Circle around 5:33 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle had a large crack in the windshield, and the driver was identified as 35-year-old Crystal Marie Moon from multiple previous law enforcement encounters.

The deputy then conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of a Circle K gas station, located at County Road 435 and Sorrento Avenue. Moon was ordered back into her vehicle as she had gotten out after the deputy’s emergency lights were activated. A check of her driver’s license came back showing that it had been suspended since 2009 with one prior driving while license suspended or revoked conviction, the report said.

Moon was then removed from the vehicle and placed into custody in the back of a patrol vehicle. She told the deputy that she wanted him to get her cell phone and that there was methamphetamine in her brown purse. She was then advised of her rights, and she stated that she would like to talk to the deputy, the report said.

Moon confirmed that she had methamphetamine, which she referred to as “ice,” in her purse that was hers. Indeed, found inside her purse was a small plastic bag containing a white substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Also in the purse was a silver or clear Ziploc package containing a green leafy substance that tested positive for CBD, the report said.

While performing a vehicle inventory search, another clear Ziploc bag containing a white powdery substance was located under the driver’s seat near the center console. This tested positive for methamphetamine, too. One more Ziploc bag was found containing six sealed packages of Buprenorphine and two cut plastic straws with white residue inside of them, the report said.

Moon was subsequently arrested on charges of driving while license suspended or revoked (second offense), possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of methamphetamine. She was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $4,500.
