An officer spotted a white Mitsubishi SUV changing lanes without using a turn signal near U.S. Hwy. 441 and Canal Street around 6 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The vehicle’s tag also expired on Oct. 11, 2022.

Upon the officer approaching the driver, later identified as 50-year-old Cresandra Ann Jimenez, and explaining the reason for the traffic stop, she was unable to produce her driver’s license and vehicle registration. She also admitted to not having a license and was unable to provide registration or insurance for the vehicle. It was later confirmed that she was the registered owner of the vehicle, the report said.

Additionally, it was determined that the attached tag was not assigned to the vehicle. A check of Jimenez’ driving history showed that her license had been suspended several times four times starting in Nov. 2001 through Jan. 2024 for driving while her license was suspended or cancelled. After her driving status was confirmed as driving while her license was suspended, she was detained in handcuffs and placed under arrest, the report said.

Jimenez advised that she wanted to take her debit card, telling officers where it was. An officer went to grab it and found Jimenez’ ID card against it, the report said.

While inside LPD booking, Jimenez was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked (with knowledge) and issued written warnings for the expired tag and improper lane change. She was then transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
