Pedestrian fatally struck by Range Rover and cement truck

A pedestrian was fatally struck early Friday morning by a Land Rover Range Rover and a cement truck on State Road 44 in Sumter County.

The male pedestrian was crossing State Road 44 at County Road 229 at 5:52 a.m. when he was struck by the Range Rover driven by a 42-year-old Leesburg man, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The Range Rover had been westbound on State Road 44.

The pedestrian was also struck by a cement truck driven by a 29-year-old Leesburg man, who also was traveling westbound on State Road 44, behind the Range Rover.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
