Electronic certification of Lake County’s Official Records now available

Electronic certification of Lake County’s Official Records is now available, announced the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller on Monday.

The Clerk is now offering electronically certified (eCertified) copies of eligible documents recorded in the Official Records, such as deeds, mortgages, satisfactions, liens, marriage licenses, powers of attorney, notices of commencement, agreements, judgments and financing statements.

“Non-certified copies of court and official record documents are available free on our website,” said Gary Cooney, Clerk & Comptroller. “There are times, however, that customers need certified copies to prove their authenticity, and this new service will make the process of getting these documents much easier.”

Ordering an eCertified document is available online 24 hours per day, seven days per week, on the Clerk’s website at www.LakeCountyClerk.org/eCertify-OR. Once purchased, the documents are typically delivered by email within minutes. Each eCertified document uses advanced encryption features to produce a tamper-proof electronically certified document with a unique Clerk of Court digital signature.

To purchase an eCertified document online, it must already be viewable on the website. Florida law restricts some documents from being viewable on the website, which makes them ineligible to be eCertified online.

Orders can also be fulfilled in person, including those documents not viewable online, at the Recording Division located in the Lake County Courthouse, 550 W. Main Street, Tavares (North Wing, 3rd floor), or at the Lake County Records Storage Facility, 313 Bloxham Ave., Tavares. Order forms are available on the Clerk’s website and can be mailed to Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, ATTN: RECORDING, P.O. Box 7800, Tavares, FL 32778.

The costs associated with an eCertified document are $8 per document, which includes a $2 statutory fee and a $6 service fee, plus $1 per page. There is a 3.5% credit card processing fee if paying by credit card.

For more information or to purchase eCertified documents, visit www.LakeCountyClerk.org/eCertify-OR or contact the Lake County Clerk’s Recording Division at 352-253-2600.
