Joy Elaine Metcalf (Chalfant) passed away peacefully April 1, 2024.
Joy was born September 23, 1935, and lived most of her life in Waukegan, Il. She graduated from Waukegan H.S. in 1952. Joy married the love of her life, Robert Metcalf in 1953. She was a wonderful mother to her 4 children.
Her career took many paths from being a mother, to waitress at the Parkway, to retiring from the Lake County Sheriff’s office as Outstanding Deputy in 1997. Retirement took them to Tavares, Fl where they enjoyed many years of golfing, boating and traveling.
Joy is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Bob, 4 children Jack (Bonnie), Jill Halweg, Ronald (Karen) and Rob (Anna), 5 grandchildren Carly (Andrea), Michelle, Robyn (Joe), Alison (Geoff) and Daniel. 5 great grandchildren, and beloved niece Roberta Riley. Joy was preceded in death by her parents Gail and Leora Chalfant, brother Robert Chalfant, and son in law Glenn Halweg.
