Lloyd V. Swavely, 85 years old, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 16th.
Lloyd was born in Pottstown, PA on November 4, 1938. He graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School, Pottstown, PA. Lloyd dedicated his life to serving by starting his career as a part-time police officer for both the Lower Pottsgrove Township and Limerick Township police forces in PA. Later he was hired as the first full- time police officer for Limerick Township serving for 25 years. Lloyd then moved to Tioga, PA and served as their Police Chief for many years. He also served as a volunteer fireman for Linfield Fire Company (Limerick Township PA) and later as a volunteer fireman/EMT for Tioga Fire Company.
Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dogs. In addition, he enjoyed woodworking or helping a neighbor with a project filling his retirement years.
Lloyd was married to Evelyn (Zumstein) Swavely. They had been married for 40 years.
Lloyd is survived by his current wife, Evelyn, his first wife, Nancy (Smoyer) Swavely, one son, Lloyd Swavely Jr., and daughters Linda (Swavely) Bieber wife of Timothy Bieber Sr, Renee Swavely, and Robin (Swavely) Colegrove.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Graham, father Wayne Carl, a brother, Ray Swavely and two sisters Kathryn (Swavely) Gauger and Dorothy (Swavely) McCrudden.
