A pedestrian was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning at UF Health-Leesburg Hospital after he was struck by an automobile.
The 55-year-old man was walking at about 6:30 a.m. in the eastbound lane of Griffin Road, west of Pioneer Trail, when he was struck by a 2020 Volkswagen Passat driven by a 63-year-old Leesburg man who also had been eastbound on Griffin Road, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. He said he did not see the pedestrian.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
