Lake Port Square recently organized a successful canned food drive to support a local food pantry during the holiday season.
The retirement community of 821 Lake Port Boulevard in Leesburg aimed to give back to the community and help those in need. Residents and staff enthusiastically participated in the food drive, generously donating a wide variety of non-perishable food items. The drive, which took place on Nov. 14 and 16, collected an impressive amount of canned goods, including vegetables, fruits, soups and other essential items.
The donated items were delivered to the Leesburg Food Bank, Inc., where they will be distributed to individuals and families facing food insecurity. The food pantry plays a vital role in the community, providing assistance to those who are struggling to put food on their tables.
“Community service is an integral part of our values at Lake Port Square,” said Walt Stroly, executive director at Lake Port Square. “We are proud to have organized this canned food drive and grateful to our residents and staff for their overwhelming support. Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of our neighbors in need.”
