A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly punching a woman in the face during an argument at the Palms Motel in Leesburg.
Police responded to a battery complaint at the Palms Motel, located at 1412 South 14th St. around 7 p.m. Nov. 9, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The female victim advised she had been battered by a man later identified as 49-year-old Thomas Lorenzo Everett.
Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim while she held a bloody rag to her bottom lip. She had a cut on the inside of her lip and blood on her hand that she stated came from her injury, the report said.
The victim further explained that she and Everett had been in a verbal argument throughout the evening involving dishes. It escalated to being physical when he struck her in the face with a closed right fist. After she was struck, the victim left the room and called law enforcement, the report said.
The officer then spoke with Everett once he was detained. He spontaneously informed the officer that he had been in a verbal argument with the victim, and she began to throw folded clothes in his direction and scream at him. She allegedly charged towards him with her hands up by her shoulder, palms facing out, when he struck her with a closed fist to her mouth, the report said.
As a result of both parties’ statements and the victim’s injuries, Everett was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). He was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
