Health code violations were found in the main dining hall at Lake Port Square in Leesburg.
An inspector paid a visit Friday to the retirement community on the shores of Lake Harris on a 78-acre nature preserve, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
A host of problems were found, including debris built up on a microwave, water leaking in a sink, can opener blades soiled with food debris, a torn gasket in the reach-in freezer, and standing water covering the floor in the mop sink room. An employee had a personal beverage in a food preparation area and a wet wiping cloth was tucked under a cutting board.
The inspector issued a “stop sale” on sliced peaches and diced beets which apparently came from dented/rusted cans.
There was also a paperwork problem in that there was no proof of required state approval employee training provided for any employees.
Lake Port Square is managed by Life Care Services, an LCS company. Lake Port Square offers independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care.
