A Leesburg woman was arrested for battery after a verbal argument with her sister escalated into physical violence.
Police responded to an undisclosed Leesburg residence in reference to a disturbance at about 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke with 23-year-old Lachanda Deilla Williams at a separate address from her home. She was crying and would only state that she got into a fight with her sister, whom she lived with. During this time, another officer arrived on scene to stay with Williams while the other went to Williams’ home to further investigate, the report said.
While talking to the sister, the officer observed she was missing the right lens from her glasses and had a fresh scratch under her nose. She informed the officer that she arrived home from work and got into a verbal altercation with Williams because she was not taking care of her children while she was at work, the report said.
Williams told her sister to “shut up” and struck her in the face with a closed fist, causing her glasses to break and scratching her under the nose. She grabbed her hair and pulled her to the ground. Before Williams could continue, two other people who lived there separated the pair. Williams then walked off the property, the report said.
The other two people in the home spoke with law enforcement and confirmed these events to be true, the report said.
Williams later requested medical services due to chest pain, the report said. Once EMS arrived on scene, she was evaluated and eventually declined to be transported for further medical care.
Williams was subsequently arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). She was taken to the Lake County Jail and released of her own recognizance. She is responsible for appearing in court on Nov. 8.
