Karen Rose Johnson
October 3, 1952 – July 16, 2023
Karen Rose Johnson was born in Piscataway, New Jersey in 1952. She moved to Florida for a short time as a young girl, and then moved back in 1975. She traveled all over the United States as a young adult and met her husband John in 1975 and they soon married.
Karen attended the University of South Florida and majored in communications and journalism and went to work at the St. Petersburg times as a journalist. Later in life, she started her own Florist business, Petals Plus, where she specialized in wedding flowers, and church alter arrangements.
Karen and her husband John had four kids, Stacy, Josh, Kelly, and Jennifer and lived in a beautiful house she designed and her husband built in Largo, FL and then moved to another beautiful house she designed in “the countryside of Orlando” as she liked to call it, Sorrento, FL. Karen was an active Girl Scout leader for her younger sister Lisa and later for her own daughters. She also volunteered at her church and became a Stephen Minister, and then volunteered at her kids’ school and ran the concession stand for the MDHS athletic department. Karen loved to cook and she was happiest when she was cooking and entertaining for her family and friends. She made the best chicken piccata. She loved being a mom and grandma to her four kids and nine grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents George and Margret Reseter, her sister Lisa Reseter, and her husband John Johnson. She leaves behind her four kids Stacy Proctor of Fruitland Park FL, (Brian), Joshua Johnson of Altamonte Springs, FL, Kelly Johnson-Thude of Winter Park, FL (Aaron), Jennifer Johnson (Nick) of Sorrento, FL, five grandsons Zach, Gavin, Nick, Christian, and Forest, and four granddaughters Desiree, Clover, Olivia, and Lea. Her family will miss her so much.
