Tech school and county offering Pathway to Prosperity scholarships

Lake Technical College and Lake County government are partnering to offer a scholarship opportunity for county residents pursuing one of nine programs designed to lead to a high-wage career in a year or less.

The Pathway to Prosperity program is being offered to students in the following programs:

  • Correctional Officer (BRTP)
  • Crossover from Correctional Officer to Law Enforcement Officer
  • Firefighter/EMT Combined
  • Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R)
  • Patient Care Technician
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Practical Nursing
  • Professional Culinary Arts & Hospitality
  • Public Safety Telecommunication (911 Dispatch)

Pathway to Prosperity FlyerThe Pathway to Prosperity Scholarship is open to Lake County residents who are not receiving financial sponsorship from any outside organization. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition, fees, and books/instructional resources in eligible programs. Students also receive individualized support from the program coordinator and assistance with employability skills and job placement.

“At Lake Technical College, educating the skilled workforce has been our mission for 55 years and we currently offer over 30 high-wage, high-skill training programs in critical areas. The Pathway to Prosperity program will swiftly meet the needs of potential employees and local employers by training students and connecting them with business partners to secure employment, said Lake Tech Executive Director DeAnna Thomas. “We are extremely grateful for this partnership with Lake County and the ability to support economic recovery and development with the highest quality workforce training programs.”

Lake County Board of County Commissioners Chairman Kirby Smith added, “Programs like this are so important to ensuring our entire community can thrive. This partnership will help everyone in Lake County by focusing on training for those individuals who want to enhance their job skills.”

Students interested in taking advantage of the Pathway to Prosperity opportunity should visit www.laketech.org to complete an online application and then call or visit the Admissions Office to meet with a Career Advisor.
