A Tavares woman was arrested after she rammed into her ex-boyfriend’s car with her own vehicle.

Shanque Shaconda Reed, 32, was taken into custody Thursday evening on charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Statements from the victim, physical evidence and a violent history with the victim gave officers probable cause to find and arrest Reed for the events.

Police responded to the incident on Sunday at 900 Beecher St. in Leesburg, according to an affidavit of probable cause from the Leesburg Police Department. The victim, Reed’s ex-boyfriend, claimed she struck his vehicle with her own vehicle on purpose.

The victim said he was alone in his girlfriend’s 2005 white Toyota passenger car traveling north on Tuskegee Street at around 7:30 p.m. when Reed pulled up next to him and stated she was going to kill him, the affidavit said.

Reed then got behind the victim’s vehicle and rammed the left rear with the right front of her vehicle, causing damage to the left rear fender of the Toyota. After she hit his vehicle, Reed drove off in an unknown direction. The victim stated Reed was driving her 2014 silver Hyundai SUV at the time, the affidavit said.

The officer later reviewed photographs taken of the victim’s vehicle, in which the damage above the left rear tire was clearly visible, the affidavit said. Silver transfer paint and investigative resources confirmed that Reed did have the previously described vehicle registered to her.

The victim further explained that Reed had tried to run him over as he was walking down Beecher Street about a week prior to this incident, but he did not report it to the police. The officer was able to find a case from March 8, 2023, in which Reed was arrested for battery on the victim, the affidavit said.

During that incident, independent witnesses saw Reed shove the victim and verbally threaten to run him over in her Hyundai. They even advised that she drove up on the sidewalk where the victim was walking but stopped just short of striking him with her vehicle, the affidavit said.

The victim told law enforcement he was in fear for his life, and that this was not the first time Reed had threatened him, the affidavit said. Despite dropping the charges for the previous battery, the victim did have a desire to prosecute for this incident. He also stated that he and Reed had dated on and off for about a year, but they never lived together or had children.

Reed was then found and transported to the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $10,000 bond.
