A Groveland man with a revoked license was arrested after troopers spotted him driving away from his home.
Troopers were sent to a residence in Clermont at around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. They were following up with a hit-and-run crash from March of last year in Orange County.
The suspect vehicle in that crash was described as a black lifted GMC pickup truck, the report said. The troopers spoke to the registered owner at the home in Clermont, and she advised that the truck was not at the address. She said it was normally driven by 31-year-old Alan Angeles.
One of the troopers knew Angeles from a previous case in February, the report said. During that case, the trooper told Angeles his driver’s license was suspended at the felony level. He was also told he would be arrested if he was caught driving.
The troopers then drove to Angeles’ residence in Groveland. As one of the troopers approached the driveway, he saw the truck leaving the area eastbound on State Road 50. An enforcement stop was conducted in that area, the report said.
A check confirmed that Angeles’ license was still revoked as a habitual traffic offender since December 2021. He also had four prior driving while license revoked convictions, the report said.
The New Jersey native was arrested and charged with driving while his license was suspended as a habitual offender. He was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after posting a $1,000 bond.
