A Leesburg man was arrested in a Cracker Barrel parking lot after being caught speeding by almost 25 miles per hour.
Police observed a black Chevy truck changing lanes from the center to the outside on U.S. Hwy. 441 at around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from Florida Highway Patrol.
The truck rapidly picked up speed to pass other vehicles as it changed lanes, the report said. The officer checked the truck’s speed with a laser, indicating the vehicle was moving at 68 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated as the officer pulled into traffic with emergency lights and sirens on, eventually stopping in a Cracker Barrel parking lot.
When asked for his license, 32-year-old Jakob Bradley Penrod advised that it was currently invalid. A check revealed his license was revoked in August 2021. He also had six prior driving while license suspended convictions on his profile.
Penrod was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended third subsequent violation. He was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
