A Leesburg woman was arrested for driving without a license after police caught her speeding by almost 20 miles per hour.
Police spotted a silver Chevy Impala traveling faster than any other vehicle on U.S. Hwy. 441 and Echo Drive at around 8:57 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The officer used a laser to clock the vehicle’s speed, which scanned a reading of 63 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated, and the officer came in contact with 46-year-old Tequila Scott Williams, the report said.
A check revealed Williams’ license was suspended in July 2018, the report said. Her license was suspended again in February 2019 and cancelled indefinitely in June 2022. The officer’s database listed her license as “ID Card Only.”
Williams was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, third offense of subsequent. She was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
