A Leesburg man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after police caught him speeding.

Police spotted 48-year-old Rodney Mason Johnson speeding in a silver Hyundai going west on County Road 48 at around 3:37 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Howey-in-the-Hills Police Department. The officer activated his radar and scanned a speed of 70 mph in a 40-mph zone.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke to Johnson, the report said. A driver’s license check revealed that it was revoked about a week prior. The officer confirmed this through dispatch, which told him the license was revoked for two counts of driving under the influence.

The Kentucky native was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended for DUI. He was also issued a civil citation for speeding. Johnson was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $10,000 bond.
