Woman leaves to walk dog and returns to find kicked-out son trashed her car

A Leesburg woman left her home to walk her dog and returned to find her kicked-out son had trashed her car.

Deon Andres Rojas, 26, was spotted Sunday sitting in his mother’s green 2007 Dodge car when she left her house to take her dog for a walk, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Rojas had trashed the back seat of this mother’s Dodge with food wrappers and drink containers while he smoked in the vehicle. He also broke the driver’s side door handle and damaged the bumper of her silver 2017 Kia, causing an estimated $2,000 in damage, the report said.

The report stated that Rojas’ mother yelled at him to get out of her vehicle. Rojas then left the property and walked down Huggins Street towards South Haines Creek Road.

Deputies responded to the scene at 7:27 a.m. and were told that Rojas had been kicked out approximately three weeks prior to the incident. Rojas’ mother said she had been living in fear since, said the report.

Rojas was located by deputies at the corner of South Haines Creek Road and Lackabee Street, the report said. He was placed under arrest at 7:51 a.m. and was searched. During the search, Rojas became irritated and spit in the face of the the deputy who was checking his pockets.

The Miami native was taken back to his mother’s home to collect paperwork and then transported to the Lake County Jail. He was charged with attempted burglary to an unoccupied conveyance, criminal mischief greater than $1,000, trespass to an unoccupied conveyance, and battery on a law enforcement officer. Bond was set at $13,000.
