A Leesburg woman was arrested by Lake County sheriff’s deputies in Altoona.
The deputies were dispatched Jan. 6 to the 19000 block of Sunfish Lane to investigate a white Mercedes parked just off the roadway. When the deputies arrived at the Mercedes location they met two men in a white truck who told them they had stopped to help the woman whose Mercedes had apparently broken down.
When the deputies made contact with the woman, 25-year-old Miranda Johns she started to get out of the passenger side of the car. A deputy was standing near the car door and could see in plain view a hypodermic needle and marijuana blunt fall from her lap to the car’s floor. He could also see cigarillo wrappers and a torch lighter in the vehicle. Search of the car revealed two drug pipes, marijuana and methamphetamine.
Johns pulled away from the deputies when they went to handcuff her. She was charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
Johns was transported to the Lake County Jail where she posted $6,000 for her bond.
