Thomas Wayne Scott

Thomas Wayne Scott, son of Ira T. and Jesse L. Scott of Clanton, AL, died peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022 in his home in Grand Island, FL. Thomas was born in Maplesville, Alabama on March 1, 1938. He served in the Army for 20 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. While in the military, Thomas was introduced to computers which lead to a long career as a programmer. Upon leaving the military, he worked at and retired from TVA in Knoxville, TN. He and his first wife, Patricia Odel Scott (deceased), had four children: Pamela M. Harrison (deceased), Jerome T. Scott (Missouri), Michael W. Scott (Washington), and Brian K. Scott (Maryland). Thomas was a brother to Charles Scott (deceased) of Clanton, AL and is survived by sister Blenda Littlejohn and her husband Doug Littlejohn of The Villages, FL. Thomas’s second marriage was to Darlene Jane Murphy Scott (deceased) who is survived by children Jamie Faulkner (Tennessee) and Sheri McNichol (Florida). Thomas is survived by grandchildren Tricia Scott, Phillip Scott, Valerie Scott, David Scott, Olivia Faulkner, Jude Scott and Beau Scott.

Thomas loved country music and was an acoustic guitar player and singer for much of his life. He loved strumming and singing songs from artists such as Ernest Tubb, Gene Autry, Jimmie Rogers, Hank Williams, Jim Reeves as well as several written by his son Brian. His kids have fond memories of listening to him sit on the edge of the bed, eyes closed, lost in the moment of singing a song. He loved the several dogs he and Darlene had through the years and also loved their visits to Anna Maria Island, Florida. Thomas was a Tennessee Volunteer fan through and through from his time of living in Knoxville, TN. He was loved and will be missed by his family.
