A convicted sex offender was jailed on $100,000 bond after his arrest in Leesburg.
Jamie Scott Ziegler, 49, whose last reported address was 1412 Spring Lake Road in Fruitland Park, was taken into custody on Friday by Lake County sheriff’s deputies on a registration violation.
The Pennsylvania native was released in 2019 from a Florida prison after serving a sentence of one year and nine months.
He was originally arrested in 2017 on a charge of traveling to a meet a minor for sexual activity. Ziegler was busted in an undercover sting in which he answered an online classified ad and sought to arrange a meeting with a 15-year-old male for sex acts described in an email, according to an arrest affidavit from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. A meeting was arranged in a local park, leading to Ziegler’s arrest.
