Robert Lawrence Coleman Jr.

U.S. Army Captain (Retired) Robert Lawrence Coleman, Jr. passed away at age 87 on November 17, 2022 at Hospice House of Tavares, Florida.

Robert (Larry) was born November 24, 1934 in Schenectady, New York to Mother, Elsie Wood (Blackwood) (Coleman) Smoot {deceased}. He is predeceased by his StepFather Archibald (Abe) Benjamin Smoot and his sister, Carol L. Coleman Williams.

Larry received his Bachelors of General Studies (BGS) from Eastern Kentucky University in 1958. He pursued a career in Education after loyally serving his country as a Captain, United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, in The Vietnam War. Captain Coleman was an Instructor at The Florida Military School in Deland, Florida in the early 1970’s. He then became an Educator in the Public School System.

He is predeceased by his Beloved Wife, Anita A. Wright Coleman.

Larry is lovingly remembered by his children and their spouses: Jeffrey Coleman {deceased}; Melissa L. Langdale & Ronald Langdale; Brian T. Coleman and their Mother Nancy L. Coleman. As well as StepDaughter Vicki L. Wright. He was faithfully cared for by his StepSon, Larry D. Wright.

He is fondly remembered by his Grandchildren and GreatGrandchildren; Amber Langdale, Ashton Langdale, Jacob Coleman, Jolena Blanchard, Kayla Williams, Robert Langdale, Tiffany Blanchard {deceased} and Wendy Williams.

Captain Coleman greatly enjoyed bicycling, cooking, golfing and horseback riding in his leisure time.

Larry will be joined at the Rainbow Bridge by his Beloved Australian Sheep Dog, Desiree. Both Larry and Anita were passionate about the Cattery they purchased and operated together: LePussyKato.

U.S. Army Captain (Ret.) Robert Lawrence Coleman, Jr.’s Cremains will be Laid to Rest with Full Military Rites in Early Spring of 2023 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Updates will be posted on this Site.
