A Leesburg man was arrested early Saturday morning by Leesburg police officers for possessing a concealed firearm.
Leesburg officers had been notified that Fruitland Park police officers were looking for a gray Nissan which might be occupied by 18-year-old Tristan Bellus of Fruitland Park who was wanted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
They saw a woman in the parking lot of a business located in the 1400 block of West North Boulevard with the gray Nissan. The officers asked the woman where Bellus was and she pointed to the business where the officers detained him for the Fruitland Park police. While handcuffing Bellus he told the officers that his aquantance, 21-year-old Austin Lee Karr, was in the business and had a gun.
The officers confronted Karr who admitted to having a Ruger EC9s pistol concealed in his right waistband. He told the officers that he did not have a concealed carry license. Fruitland Park police informed the Leesburg officers that they were not seeking to arrest Karr who did not participate in the alleged aggravated assault.
Karr was placed under arrest on the concealed weapons charge and was taken to the Lake County Jail and was released after posting $2,000 bond.
Bellus, who was arrested on a drug charge earlier this month, was also taken into custody. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
