A Leesburg man was arrested after a 911 call from a screaming woman.
Officers were dispatched in the early morning Aug. 27 to the Smoke Shop located at 107 South 14th Street. As the officers arrived on the scene, they saw a woman in an argument with a man. As the officers approached the man turned and began walking away. The officers saw marks on the woman’s neck and moved to detain the man later identified as 31-year-old Pedro J. Castro. Castro had walked behind a building and then reappeared and moved toward the officers.
When an officer checked behind the building, he found two baggies containing marijuana and a wallet which contained Castro’s identification as well as a small bag holding powdered cocaine. It had been raining earlier, but all three items were dry, according to the police report.
Castro was placed under arrest for possession of cocaine and marijuana. While being transported to the Leesburg Police Department he damaged the right side rear passenger window which resulted in an additional charge of criminal mischief. He was booked at Lake County Jail and released after posting $3,500 bond.
