A Fruitland Park man caught with pills in Leesburg was arrested this week after Walgreens helped verify he had forged a prescription.

On the  night of July 26, 33-year-old Jake Soileau had been stopped by a Fruitland Park officer when the he saw him driving a red pickup truck with cracked rear tail light on South Dixie Avenue. When a K-9 officer’s dog alerted on the truck, the officers searched the vehicle and found two Adderall pills.  Soileau told the officer that he had a prescription for the controlled substance  but that he did not have it with him. The officer placed the pills in an evidence bag and gave Soileau one week to provide the prescription to the Fruitland Police Department.

When Soileau failed to produce the prescription the officer contacted him on Aug. 8 and told him had until the next day to produce the prescription.

On Aug. 9, Soileau dropped off two paper prescriptions. The forms appeared to be copies with fresh hand printed information which carried dates several years old. When the officer contacted the doctor whose name appeared on the forms he was told that he had not prescribed any Adderall to Soileau since 2018.

A Walgreens pharmacist aided the officer by using a tracking database to determine that a pharmacy in Wildwood filled the prescription in 2018 and that the prescription appeared to be forged. A records check showed that Soileau has had no recent prescriptions for Adderall, according to the affidavit in support of the arrest warrant.

Soileau was taken by the arresting deputy to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $2,000. Soileau was previously arrested in on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and that case is still pending in the Lake County courts.
