A man was arrested after allegedly attacking a woman over a Food Stamp card at UF Health-Leesburg Hospital.

Detrick Robbins, 20, of Leesburg, was booked last week at the Lake County Jail following his arrest on a warrant charging him with battery.

The alleged attack occurred on June 1. When Leesburg police officers arrived at the hospital they met with the victim who said she had received a phone call from Robbins earlier that day. She said that Robbins, who is the father of her child, demanded a Food Stamp card from her. She told him she was not home, but was at work at the hospital.

When Robbins arrived at the hospital, he found her in the security booth near the OBGYN entrance. He demanded she give him the Food Stamp card, which he claimed belonged to him. When she said she did not have the Food Stamp card with her and that she did not know where the card was, Robbins became aggressive, according to an affidavit of probable cause. She claimed Robbins grabbed her jacket and then grabbed a Red Bull energy drink can and threw it at her. The can hit her on her head. He also threw a half-filled cup of Red Bull at her.

When she told Robbins she was calling the police, he fled the area.

When an officer contacted Robbins on his cell phone he claimed he was never at the hospital. When the officer told Robbins that there are numerous security cameras at the hospital, he changed his story and told them that he had gone to the hospital to get some of his personal items. He said that when she refused to give him his belongings, he left the hospital without touching her or throwing anything at her.

The police obtained an arrest warrant charging him with domestic battery. He was released from the jail after posting $9,500 bond.
