Jill C. Warren
June 2, 1931 – May 27, 2022
Writing my Mom’s Obituary is so difficult. How can I put down in words how wonderful Jill, Mom or Mimi (take your pick) touched all our lives?
Jill was born in Midway, Alabama on June 2, 1931. There seems to be some debate over the exact day. I am sticking to June 2nd.
Jill’s mother’s name was Louisa Virginia Hardee, Elvy for short. Us kids called her Mam-ma. Elvy married Averill (Ave Sr) Cobb (Pap-pa) in 1927 and moved to Montgomery, Alabama where Ave Sr worked as a guard at Kilby Penitentiary. Us kids used to hide in the back seat to surprise Pap-pa when Mam-ma would pick him up at work. Funny the things you remember.
Jill had two brothers; Joseph (Joe) Cobb and Averill (Ave Jr) Cobb. Jill was the middle child and would eventually become their caregiver. Danny, Len and Allison were her nephews and niece. The loved their Aunt Jill so much.
I know she played clarinet in her high school band. There is a picture somewhere of her HS Band we use to look at many years ago.
Jill became a Registered Nurse at a Catholic School of Nursing in Montgomery. She had many stories about her time in school.
Not sure when this happened; Jill took a job as an elevator operator at the hospital in Montgomery. She had trouble bringing the elevator landings level and was fired from that job!
Eventually Jill met George Walter Warren Sr and were married in 1953. George Sr was in the army and was based in San Antonio, Texas and Fort Rucker, Alabama not far from where he grew up in Enterprise, Alabama.
Libby was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1953. I have heard many times that her birth only cost $25 back then.
George Jr. was born in Eustis, Florida in 1956 and their third child, Laura came along in 1959. The family was complete.
George and Jill were members of The First Baptist Church of Eustis. Jill taught Sunday School and designed and built many of the Church’s sets for Christmas Cantatas. Our family attended Church every Sunday. After church we would go to Morrison’s Cafeteria in Leesburg for lunch.
Jill was a member of the Eustis Women’s Club in the 1960’s. As the kids grew older, she became a stay-at-home Mom. This was not an easy job.
Mom was my Little League Concession Stand volunteer. She attended all her kid’s events. She was a Mom to many other kids growing up.
Jill returned to work as a Registered Nurse as the kids grew older. She worked on the Mental Health Unit at Waterman Hospital, Mt Dora Medic Home, Lake Eustis Care Center, Oakwood Nursing Home and at Lakeview Terrace in Altoona, Florida.
Eventually retiring from nursing, Jill became a fulltime grandmother of 7 grandchildren (Jason, Nash, Kristin, Ryan, Ana, Jill, Carrie) and 9 great-grandchildren (Claudia, Callie, Miabella, Camryn, Maddix, Logan, Grayson, Hayden, Jordan).
The kids called her Mimi. After George Sr. died in 2007, Mimi became the family monarch. Everyone looked up to her for her encouragement and that look she gave you with her eyes that she loved you so much.
Mom loved to read. Her favorite book was the Holy Bible. She would handwrite Bible verses on slips of paper and tape them to her bathroom wall. I guess she spent some time there!
Mimi had a quick wit and always said what she was thinking.
In the recent days since her passing, so many have expressed their love for our Mom. Our family so appreciates the support of so many friends.
To sum it up; Jill C Warren touched the lives of so many.
Call her friend, Mom or Mimi; she loved us unconditionally.

Mom just winked at you on her way to glory!
Give thanks for the end of her final struggle and rejoice that as she can
“Do whatever I want when I get to heaven”.
This she told me a few weeks ago.
Many thanks to all of you that have shown us so much love over
the last few weeks. Her strong faith in Jesus and the resurrection
is an example that we all seek.
Thank you Mom for this final lesson.
