A 39-year-old Leesburg man with the street name “Hollywood Swag” is back in the Lake County Jail, this time without bond, after drugs and shotgun were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Rodney Lamar Woods, of 8624 Silver Trail, was arrested in Eustis on Monday night and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (morphine sulfate) with intent to sell, and single counts of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of a legend drug (sildenafil citrate) with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

It’s the second arrest in a little over a month for Woods, who was jailed Feb. 28 for allegedly using a baseball bat to break another man’s arm.

Woods’ latest brush with the law started shortly before midnight when a Marion County sheriff’s deputy observed him driving a green 2003 Ford Mustang near the intersection of State Road 19 and Pine Meadows Golf Course Road. The vehicle’s windows were heavily tinted, leading the deputy to conduct a traffic stop, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Woods, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, provided his driver’s license, registration and insurance, but he denied consent to search the vehicle. A sheriff’s office K9 unit arrived at the scene and conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle. The dog gave a positive alert for the odor of narcotics in the car. Meanwhile, the window tint measured at 18 percent, which is below the legal limit, the report said.

Woods was removed from the vehicle while it was searched. The deputy found a small amount of methamphetamine on the floor just behind the driver’s seat. Inside the trunk was a box of 12-gauge shotgun shells. A criminal history report shows Woods has multiple felony arrests and several convictions. When the deputy pulled the shells out of the vehicle, Woods immediately said, “Those are birdshot.” A small black digital scale with what appeared to be drug residue was found inside a backpack, according to the report.

Woods was placed in handcuffs and physically searched. The deputy found a clear plastic bag tucked next to Woods scrotum that contained what appeared to be multiple bags of different powders, pills, and crystal rock substances. The various substances were analyzed with a field test kit and yielded positive results, the report said.

Woods is due to appear in Lake County Court at 8:30 a.m. May 9.
