A drunk driving suspect was arrested after he was found passed out in a vehicle at a hotel in Leesburg.

Leesburg police were dispatched Sunday night to the Best Western hotel on North 14th Street to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived at the hotel, they found 31-year-old Inmer Santos passed out in a vehicle parked near the pool. The engine was running and the vehicle’s hazard lights were flashing.

Officers were able to rouse Santos, who seemed dazed and confused.  When asked to get out of the car, the native of El Salvador rolled down the rear window. He finally opened the vehicle’s door and as he did so, an empty beer can was spotted on the floor board. That led to the discovery of more empty beer cans in the vehicle, according to the arrest report.

Santos was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol. He refused to attempt to participate in standardized field sobriety exercises.

Santos was placed under arrest on charges of driving under the influence and driving without a driver’s license. A records check indicated that Santos has never had a driver’s license issued in the United States.

When Santos was taken to the Leesburg Police Department, he provided two breath samples which were analyzed by the department’s breathalyzer . They showed blood alcohol levels of .257 and .253. Santos was transported to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $2,000.
