A Leesburg man suffering from a nightmare was arrested Sunday morning at the Lee Motel on South 14th Street.

Police were dispatched to the motel to investigate a call reporting a possible battery and yelling in Room 14. When a Leesburg officer arrived at Room 14, he was greeted by a woman standing in the doorway. The woman told the officer that there had been no fight or battery. She said that a man in the room, 57-year-old David Knight, suffered from nightmares and had been screaming and yelling while he was asleep.

When the officer made contact with Knight, he denied any fight or dispute with the woman and told the officer he suffers from “night terrors.”

Next to the bed where Knight was sitting, the officer could see a glass pipe in plain view which appeared to contain a white crystalline substance. Knight admitted the pipe belonged to him. Knight was placed under arrest on a charge of possession of drug equipment. A baggie was also found in plain view next to the pipe  that contained methamphetamine.

Knight was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug equipment. He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $3,000.
