A Leesburg man was arrested late Saturday night after he was found to have guns and children in his car.

The man was observed driving a grey car with deeply tinted windows southbound on U.S. Hwy. 441 by a Lake County sheriff’s deputy. The deputy stopped the car to check the window tint near the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 441 and Marion Street in Leesburg. When the deputy approached the car he detected an odor of marijuana coming from the car and he could see a rolled marijuana blunt in plain view, according to the deputy’s arrest report. He had the driver, 24-year-old Devante Bradford, his two children and his girlfriend get out of the car.

The deputy found a 9mm semi-automatic pistol in the glove compartment and noted that the gun still felt warm to the touch as if it had recently been on a person’s body, according to the arrest report. An AR style rifle was found in the trunk. A records check showed that Bradford is a convicted felon.

He was placed under arrest for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
