Leesburg police arrest repeat offender with drugs in his underwear

A Leesburg police officer on patrol arrested a repeat traffic offender with drugs concealed in his underwear.

The officer spotted 26-year-old Fletcher Howard III on Saturday driving a white Hyundai sedan. The officer knew Howard from previous contacts and was aware that his license had been revoked for a drunk driving conviction and that he had been classified as a habitual offender. The officer verified that the revocation of Howard’s driving privileges was still in effect and stopped Howard near the intersection of Citrus Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard .

After processing Howard at the Leesburg Police Department, he was transported to the Lake County Jail where Howard’s bad day got worse.

When the jail staff searched Howard they found that the Colorado native had concealed a small white plastic bag in the groin region. The bag contained a substance that field tested as methamphetamine, according to the arrest report.

Howard was booked at the Lake County Jail on charges of driving while revoked as a habitual offender/DUI, possession of a controlled substance and introduction of contraband into the jail (drugs ). Bond on all three felonies was set at $14,000. This was Howard’s 11th arrest in four years which resulted in his incarceration in the Lake County Jail.
