A disagreement over child care escalated into a brawl which resulted in a Leesburg woman’s arrest.

Leesburg police officers were dispatched to a residence located on Birchwood Circle in Leesburg early Wednesday night regarding a domestic battery. When they arrived they made contact with a roommate of the arguing couple who told the police that 24-year-old Kirsten Grey had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend over his failure to take care of the minor children they have in common. She saw Grey throw a knife to the ground, but did not see any blows struck.

When police spoke to the boyfriend, he said that Grey and he had been arguing all day. He said she took a knife and swung it at him while they were arguing in the backyard. He was struck in the back of the neck and had a three-inch mark on the back of his neck, according an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He also had an abrasion on his left shin which was caused by the knife hitting him when it bounced off the ground.

Grey told officers she was exhausted from work and that her boyfriend would not take proper care of the children while she was trying to get some rest before heading back to work that evening. She told the officers that she “snapped” due to being physically and emotionally exhausted and the boyfriend not doing his part to take care of the children. She admitted to hitting him with the knife.

Grey was placed under arrest and after processing at the Leesburg Police Department was taken to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $5,000 for the offense of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
