A tip resulted in the apprehension of a pair of fugitive tree trimmers at Lake-Sumter State College.

Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit received a tip that 29-year-old Ryan Sherman, who was wanted on a parole violation warrant out of Vermont, would be cutting trees Monday on the college campus in Leesburg. The tipster also indicated that he would be accompanied by his girlfriend, 27-year-old Katelynn Sargent, who would be driving a silver Ford Focus. As the deputies arrived at the college parking lot, they found Sherman sitting in the Ford and took him into custody. He was booked without bond at the Lake County Jail.

Sargent was wanted on a warrant out of Polk County charging her with a probation violation. While performing a pat down, Sargent admitted to deputies that she had a “bowl” in the left side of her bra and some pills in her waistband. The deputies recovered a glass smoking pipe and Tramadol pills. She was booked on $3,000 bond at the Lake County Jail on charges of possession of controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug equipment.
