A homeless man seeking shelter from the cold was arrested at LifeStream Behavioral Center in Leesburg.
Michael Joseph Fradette, 55, had attempted to gain admittance to the mental health facility this past Sunday evening, but did not meet the organization’s intake criteria for a voluntary admission, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
Management allowed Fradette, to sleep in the access center because of the cold weather.
On Monday morning, staff advised Fradette that he would need to leave the facility as he would not be admitted as a patient. He refused to leave and police were summoned.
When an officer told Fradette that he would have to leave the facility, Fradette refused to do so. The police officer gave the Connecticut native a written trespass warning and again asked him to leave the property.
Fradette told the officer that he was staying and would not leave the building
He was arrested on a charge of trespassing and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
