A Leesburg couple was arrested in a stolen vehicle.

Angel Daugherty, 35, had been staying at a Linda Lane residence in Leesburg. Acquaintances had been staying at that address and parked their Dodge van on the premises, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. When that couple woke up last Monday, the van was gone. They confronted Daugherty, who told them that she had taken the van and that it was at a repair shop due to having a blown head gasket. She left the residence after telling the van’s owners that she would be back within the hour. After waiting several hours for the van to be returned, the owners called 911 and reported the van as stolen.

Lake County deputies stopped the van in the 1100 block of Northern Avenue and found Daugherty behind the wheel. They saw 34-year-old Myles Grodecki get out of the front passenger street and walk away. A deputy went to secure Grodecki and saw him throw a baggie to the ground. The baggie contained a substance which field tested as being fentanyl. Grodecki was also in possession of two hypodermic needles.

Both Daugherty and Grodecki were taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail.
