Gareld Leon Grimes (Gary) of Leesburg, FL passed away December 5, 2021. Gary was born April 12, 1932 to Harry Van Grimes and Sadie (Logan) Grimes in Grafton, WVA. After graduating from high school he joined the United States Air Force and served his country for 22 years, obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant. Gary married Helen Louise Stilwell on July 18, 1954. Gary and Helen have four surviving children: Mark A. Grimes of Triangle, VA, Carol L. Campbell (Roy) of Powhatan, VA, David M. Grimes of Chesterfield, VA and Michael S. Grimes (Marcia) of Leesburg, FL. They also have three grandchildren; Roy B. Campbell, Sarah L. Campbell and Kaitlyn L. Grimes. A sister, Eleanor Bunker of Baltimore, MD also survives him. Helen passed away in 2006. Gary then married his second wife, Alberta Bradford in 2007, she preceded him in death on November 23, 2021. Gary was an active member of Woodbridge Christian Church in Virginia, Chippenham Christian Church in Virginia and First Christian Church of Leesburg, FL. Gary was active in the Boy Scouts of America as a teen and an adult leader in Maryland and Virginia. He was also a life-long member of the Freemason Fraternity and part of the Scottish Rite. He achieved the standing of 33 Degree Master Mason. The family will receive guests on December 12, 2021 at 2pm for visitation and funeral will start at 3pm at the First Christian Church of Leesburg, FL. Interment will be Monday at 12:30 at the Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to First Christian Church of Leesburg, FL 1701 Vine Street Leesburg, FL 34738
