A Leesburg woman was arrested after allegedly trying to run down her boyfriend with a Jeep SUV.
The boyfriend called 911 shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday to report he had been in a “verbal disturbance” with his live-in girlfriend, 45-year-old Angela Parvu, and she nearly struck him in a parking lot at 11240 Northern Avenue in Leesburg, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He said he did not think she had done so intentionally. He added that Parvu had been “consuming alcohol heavily” and law enforcement had been called earlier in the day to their home on Lakeview Drive.
As a deputy was speaking to the boyfriend, he suddenly looked up and pointed at the white Jeep SUV which was stopped at the intersection of Northern Avenue and South Haines Creek Road.
“That’s her right there,” the boyfriend told the deputy.
She entered the parking lot and accelerated, pointing the vehicle toward her boyfriend and the deputy. The deputy told the boyfriend to move out of the way, “Or he would have been struck,” the deputy wrote in the report.
The Michigan native “appeared to be very intoxicated due to her speech being slurred, belligerently screaming obscenities,” the arrest report said.
Parvu was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
