Mexican restaurant in Lake County shut down after inspector finds high-priority violations

A Mexican restaurant in Lake County was shut down last week after a health inspector found high-priority violations.

La Casa Mexican Bar & Grill at 2060 S. Bay St. in Eustis was shut down Aug. 11 after the inspector found several live roaches in the restaurant, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Another high-priority violation included single-use gloves not changed “as needed” as an employee tied a trash bag around a can then handled food, the report said. There also was salsa held at an improper temperature.

Basic violations involved an expired food manager certification, straws at the bar not properly protected to prevent contamination and dead roaches on the premises.
